The Savvy Simple Savers Christmas Giving Tree

The Savvy Simple Savers Christmas Giving Tree
was decorated by these great stories of giving!

To: Yelm Community Services

From: Holly Reed

Holly used her couponing skills to get most of these items for
free or pennies. She also donated extra items from her stockpile. Holly donated a variety of food items, diapers and books that will help families in need in our local community.

From: Christina Enfield

The Enfield family provided an entire turkey dinner for a local family and provided Christmas gifts for an 11 year old girl through the Giving Tree at Crossroads Community Covenant Church.

From: The Kelcher Family Stockpile

I (Staci Kelcher) work at Southworth Elementary School. As I was entering our workroom area one day, I saw a Giving Tree on posted on the wall. As I took a look at the items needed, I saw the need for laundry soap and other toiletries. I knew immediately that my family had extra in our stockpile and this would be a great way to help a family in need for Christmas. Even better I knew these items were helping students and families in my school and community.

Shopping the best sales and using coupons allowed us to purchase these items for very little out of pocket expense. It was worth the time and effort to be able to assist families right here in our community. My entire family really enjoyed being a part of shopping for these items and dropping them off at Yelm Community Services together.

To: A Family in need of
a free mattress

From: Dawna

Dawna and her family had a mattress to give to a family in need. When she discovered that the mattress was for a 4 year old girl that had been sleeping on the couch she kindly asked for more details. The grandmother shared with her the many changes in this little girls life including the worry that Santa wouldn't find her this year in a new home and a bedroom with no bed.  Moved to tears, Dawna and her daughter went shopping for Christmas gifts to send along with the mattress.  The grandmother also shared that they did not celebrate Christmas the same way her grandchildren did, but were trying to do their best to help her daughter and grandchildren with a new start in life.  This family was very thankful for these gifts and even though they were strong in their own beliefs and faith, Dawna recognized the compassion they displayed while allowing their grandchildren to celebrate Christmas in their home.
