Rite Aid Retraining

My personal challenge for the month of March was to learn a new way to shop at Rite Aid.  My approach to this journey was to shop each week, earn +Up Rewards and then use them the following week to purchase items and earn more +Up Rewards.   The reason for this strategy was due to the new policy that requires you to wait until the next day to use your +Up Rewards.  My ultimate goal  was to continually have +Up Rewards for the next shopping trip which would lower my out of pocket expense.

Week #2
I did not find any items I needed or that gave me +Up Rewards to continue my savings for the weeks ahead.  I made no purchases.  I knew that I had one more week before my +Up Rewards from Week #1 expired.  I also previewed the next weeks Rite Aid ad which helped me make the decision to wait.

I look forward to another month of shopping at Rite Aid and sharing my experience.  Here are a few things I have already learned over the past month, but I am sure I will learn more as I continue my retraining.
  1. You can opt out of the program to automatically load your +Up Rewards to your Rite Aid card.  By calling customer service and opting out, your +Up Rewards will begin printing at the bottom of your receipt.
  2. Once you get started the first week earning +Up Rewards, it really isn't that hard to roll them into the weeks ahead.
  3. Viewing the upcoming Rite Aid ad scans can really help you plan what you may want to purchase and help you decide whether to use your +Up Rewards or save them for the next week.  Ad scans can be viewed here.  Remember your +Up Rewards are only good for 14 days.
  4. Keep an open mind about using your +Up Rewards throughout the week to purchase additional items and earn more +Up Rewards.  This changed my initial strategy of only shopping once a week.  You may want to plan additional trips if the deals are particularly good on items you need and there is an opportunity to use and gain more +Up Rewards.
